The American Innovations and Modernization Council (AIM Council) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to our website.  This policy sets forth the reasons that we collect information and how it will be used.  Most data AIM COUNCIL collects are used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users via a special announcement placed on the website.

AIM COUNCIL prohibits the unauthorized use of information collected about our members and customers by any and all persons, including AIM COUNCIL volunteers and staff.  Violations of this policy should be brought to the attention of AIM COUNCIL.

We collect information to provide an effective website, to process transactions such as registration for an event and to provide a better experience and more benefits to AIM COUNCIL members.  All information provided to AIM COUNCIL is provided voluntarily by the user.

From General Users
AIM COUNCIL does not collect any personal information from anonymous users browsing its website other than the public IP address. Though we collect IP address information we do not link an IP addresses to a user’s personal information unless voluntarily provided. Only aggregate data, such as the number of hits per page, are used. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing analytics purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

From AIM COUNCIL Members and Participants
To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on AIM COUNCIL website, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. Depending upon the nature of the request or transaction, AIM COUNCIL may ask users to provide their name, title, organization name, business phone, e-mail or similar type information. Similar information may be submitted to AIM COUNCIL through membership applications, conference or seminar registration, publication orders, subscriptions, and or professional development programs. 

From Members and Registrants
To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the AIM COUNCIL website, members are asked to use their e-mail and password. AIM COUNCIL asks users to provide their name, organization name, business phone, and e-mail in order to create an account. Credit card information is collected from an individual when joining or renewing a membership, registering for an educational course, or event, or purchasing other goods or services. This data is submitted voluntarily. Similar information may be submitted to AIM COUNCIL through membership applications, conference registrations. Additionally, for some emails sent in HTML format to its members and other customers, AIM COUNCIL may collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, AIM COUNCIL may monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: email address of a user, the date and time of the user’s “click,” a message number, name of the list from which the message was sent, tracking URL number, and destination page. AIM COUNCIL will only use this information to enhance its services and distribution of those services to its members and other customers. This information will not be distributed in any other manner without user consent.

AIM COUNCIL does collect some personal information from visitors to the website who wish to register for an event or otherwise take advantage of a specific product or service.  Such information may include name, address, organization and payment information (such as a credit card). 

AIM COUNCIL collects payment information where a fee is required.  However, such information is used solely for the purpose of the transaction and AIM COUNCIL does not retain any financially identifiable information such as credit card number, bank account, etc.

As a service to AIM COUNCIL members, AIM COUNCIL does make available certain information about individuals and organizations to support networking and communications.  For example, AIM COUNCIL may offer a directory of members that may be used to identify other AIM COUNCIL members who share common interests.  Such information is collected through the individual member profile and the organizational profile.  Each individual has the ability to restrict the type of information that may be made available and the purposes for which it will be made available.

Opt Out Information
AIM COUNCIL provides the opportunity for members to designate the type of information they wish to receive and to receive timely notifications of such information.  All emails sent by AIM COUNCIL include an opt-out option.

  1. How Do We Use Cookies?

When you visit the AIM COUNCIL website, we may send one or more cookies — a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters — to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and allows AIM COUNCIL help you log in faster and enhance your navigation through the site. The server uses this information to provide certain features during the individual’s visit to the website. Individuals can set their browser to warn when the placement of a cookie is requested and decide whether or not to accept it. By rejecting a cookie, some of the features available on the site may not function properly. 

  1. Security Considerations on the AIM COUNCIL Website

When sending sensitive information to AIM COUNCIL it is important to remember that electronic messages are not secure against interception, even though steps are taken to ensure the confidentiality and security of information individuals provide to AIM COUNCIL through the website. With respect to purchases the individual makes on the website, all such transactions are transmitted via an SSL secure server, the industry standard for such transactions through our third party vendor, PayPal.  Nonetheless, if the information is very sensitive or includes personally identifying or confidential information that the individual does not wish transmitted electronically, the individual should mail such information to AIM COUNCIL at 1444 I Street NW, Washington, DC 20005, or call the office at 202-845-8200.
